Whitney Sheng

Whitney Sheng is a Chinese-American composer based in NYC and Miami. Recent commissions include a site-specific duo for violin and cello for Fou Gallery, a brass ensemble work for the NYC Brass Choir, a brass quintet for Zephyr Brass, and a piano quartet for the Bled Festival, supported by the Ministry of Culture in Slovenia. Her music has been performed at Eastman School of Music, Opera America, Heidelberg University, Contemporary Nottingham, and international festivals. Her music often draws inspiration from visual art and natural soundscapes, exploring interwoven textures and a sense of playfulness.
