Yaxin Liu was born in 1997 in China. In 2015, she began her undergraduate studies in composition and music technology at the Minzu University of China, studying with Dr. Yang Yu. During her time there, she interned at Kuwo, a major online music platform, and from her freshman to junior year, she assisted Dr. Yu in managing the educational WeChat account “Yubo Classroom.” Her responsibilities included curating music selections that supported the account’s educational and advertorial themes.
          From 2020 to 2023, Liu pursued both her Master of Music and Professional Studies Certificate in classical composition at the Manhattan School of Music, where she studied under Dr. J. Mark Stambaugh. In 2023, she was admitted to the Doctor of Musical Arts program in classical composition at the University of Miami. She studied with Dr. Charles Mason and is currently studying under Dr. Lansing McLoskey.
